The Drum Screen is a cylindrical screening device mounted on the pulping line. It uses a rotating drum with precisely engineered perforations or wedge-wire elements to separate solids based on size. As pulp flows through the drum, unwanted coarse and some mid-sized impurities are retained on or near the drum surface, while the fiber-rich suspension passes through to the next stage. Depending on the design, the drum can be tensioned or supported by rollers and may incorporate self-cleaning features to maintain open screen areas.

1. Pulping and disintegration: Waste paper is pulped to form a slurry of fibers and a mixed load of impurities.
